Discussion Board

this is is meta's discussion board for all things semiotic, philosophical, and beyond. it is essentially - dare we use that word? - guided by the students, lightly moderated, and governed in practice through practice. there is no explicit protocol, only one that shifts and forms inside each and every one of us; what some might call common sense. but as semiotics students, of course, common sense can be a shifting terrain indeed, one as likely to exist on flat prairies as on jagged peaks and molten lava flows. let it be known that while the moderators enjoy the nomadic thrill of the plateau as much as everyone else, it may be necessary at times to bring everyone back down to the reality of using university server space. so just use common sense; whatever that means today.
current moderator: richard pope

JM: Pope, you're sounding stuffy.. : ))

Today, on the menu:

  • This site is obviously in its beginning stages. What more should we do?
  • What is everyone going to do with their semiotic degree? Any advice to share?
  • If we began to formulate the semiotics of the "War on Terror," what might we come up with?

Be patient until we figure out how to integrate discussion board software into this website. Until then you can send us your opinions on these themes to the email address, with the discussion theme in the subject title, and we will display your comments here. Play nice.
