Our Services

While many universities contract out their food service operation, Victoria University proudly operates its own independent catering service. We are the sole provider of all catered events on campus. Our culinary team carefully prepares meals for students and faculty, as well as custom menus for diverse events, conferences and festivals.

You will be supported by a dedicated team of experienced event co-ordinators and catering service personnel to help you plan and execute your catered event, which can be held at a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces. We also offer supplementary services like meeting space rentals and audio/visual equipment, among others.

Food Menu

Our self-operated food services team provides casual to detailed, full-service catering according to your needs. We offer curated dishes in addition to a set menu, and prioritize sustainable practices like eco-friendly packaging, donating leftover meals and opting for fair trade coffee.

 

 

 

 

 

Bar Services

Our licensed bar service offers private-label wines, in addition to domestic and imported beer and rail drinks. If you are hosting at the Isabel Bader Theatre, we also can provide concession bar and pre/post-event reception service.

Inclusive Menu

We offer a variety of food options to cater to different dietary needs and restrictions. This includes certified halal, kosher, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. See our offerings below.

  • Nut allergies: We do not use nuts in our kitchen but are not a nut-free facility as products purchased from our suppliers may contain traces. Please let us know if any of your guests have severe nut allergies.
  • Kosher meals: We offer kosher meals through a certified kosher caterer. Please send in your request at least two weeks in advance and we will provide you with a separate catering quote.
  • Halal meals: Our suppliers are certified halal and in compliance with Islamic guidelines, principles and regulations.

Sustainability

We prioritize sustainability in our kitchen operations. Here are some of our important initiatives

  • Partnering with local farmers and suppliers to source fresh, seasonal and organic ingredients to reduce our carbon footprint
  • Buying produce, dairy and meats locally to reduce long-distance food transport and support the regional economy
  • Waste reduction by composting organic waste, tracking food waste, and using eco-friendly packaging or biodegradable alternatives
  • Sustainable foods through plant-based or seasonal menus
  • Fair trade coffee, tea, bananas and chocolate to ensure ethical sourcing and environmental stewardship
  • Donating surplus food to student associations and food banks (such as the Meals After Eight program)
  • Recycling chopsticks through our partner Chop Value

How many days in advance do I need to place my order?

You should place your catering order at least three weeks before your scheduled event. Please note that if you have specific accommodation requests or require a customized menu, we may require more notice.

  • Food and beverage modifications can be made up to five business days before
  • Confirmation of the final number of guests is required three business days before.

Please note that any late orders placed within two business days of your event may incur a 20 per cent surcharge. We will try our best to accommodate late orders, including offering alternative options from Burwash Dining Hall and Ned’s Café.

What is your cancellation policy?

When cancelling your catering order:

  • Three business days before the event, you will be charged 100 per cent of the catering quote.
  • Three to five business days before the event, you will be charged 75 per cent of the catering quote.
  • Ten business days before the event, you will only be charged labour charges.
Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?

We do our best to accommodate any dietary restrictions or needs.

How do I make changes to my order?

Any changes to the number of attendees, menu selection, service style or labour made less than two business days before your event may result in additional charges.
