Inaugural Awards Gala Honours Over 1,400 Students

Jan. 13, 2025

Alumni Hall buzzed with excitement on Jan. 10 as hundreds of students, friends, family and faculty celebrated the remarkable achievements of students at the 2025 Victoria University Student Awards Gala.

This inaugural event marked a new tradition, replacing the student awards segment of Victoria College’s annual Charter Day Ceremony—and it proved to be a resounding success.

The evening was full of delicious food, spirited conversation and a shared sense of pride in the excellence nurtured within the Vic community. Alumni Hall, steeped in history and elegance, provided the perfect backdrop for this memorable occasion.

“I know you think it seems like a lot of people won awards, but there were so many more deserving of recognition,” said Victoria University President Rhonda McEwen. About 1,400 Victoria College students were celebrated and 50 Emmanuel College students.

McEwen's words struck a chord with attendees, as they took in the sight of award recipients filling the halls of Old Vic. The gala was a testament not only to the extraordinary talents and dedication of the students but also to the supportive faculty and staff who cultivate a thriving academic and creative environment.
