New Counselling Options at Victoria for BIPOC Identifying Students
As of December 8, 2020, Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) identifying students at Victoria will have access to a full-time, BIPOC counsellor. This new position was created after extensive consultation with equity groups at Victoria (especially the Victoria Black Student Network- BLVCK), VUSAC (Victoria student government), and with BIPOC students in the Dean of Students’ Advisory Committee.

VUSAC Launches New Award for BIPOC Students
Victoria College’s student government, the Victoria University Students Administrative Council (VUSAC), has launched a new student award with the support of Victoria University senior administration. The VUSAC BIPOC Leadership Award, will be conferred upon a student identifying as Black, Indigenous, or Person of Colour (BIPOC) who demonstrates involvement and service to others through positive and significant contributions to student life, the community at large, or both.

Conference on Racism and Anti-Racism on Campus

Additionally, in an effort to further one of Professor Will Robins’ Presidential Priorities, to foster diversity and inclusivity, Victoria hosted a two-day conference on November 16 and 20 on racism and anti-racism on campus.

Remembering C. Douglas Jay, Principal Emeritus of Emmanuel College
It is with profound sadness that Victoria University shares the news of the passing of C. Douglas Jay Vic 4T6, Emm 5T0, Hon. 9T9 on January 1, 2021. Jay was the principal of Emmanuel College from 1981 to 1990. He was in his 96th year.
