Emmanuel Hosts Talk about Colonialism and Environmentalism in Canada
Rev. Murray Pruden (National Executive Minister, Indigenous Ministries and Justice for the United Church of Canada) and Matthew Dougherty (Assistant professor, Teaching stream at Emmanuel College) explore the intertwined issues of colonialism and environmental in Canada. Using Prof. Dougherty's new research into Ontario's history as a starting point, they offer their perspectives on how we came to our present environmental crisis, and where we go from here.

Indigenous and Muslim Perspectives on Colonisation
This event is the third in a series of very successful panels exploring Indigenous-Muslim perspectives on common issues of importance to the contemporary world. The previous two panels engaged in conversations around “Indigenous and Muslim Traditional Healing Practices in a Modern Context” (2019) and “Indigenous-Muslim Perspectives on Climate Change" (2021). This year's panel explores Indigenous and Muslim perspectives on the concepts and effects of colonisation, decolonisation and treaties. The panel will be moderated by Katherine Bullock and features three speakers; Susan Hill, John Andrew Morrow, and Salman Sayyid. Co-sponsors: Centre for Religion and Its Contexts (Emmanuel College), Justice for All Canada and Olive Tree Foundation.

Faith and service characterized the remarkable lives and ministry of the late Rev. Dr. John C. Hoffman Vic 5T4 and his wife, the late Rev. Nettie (Wilson) Hoffman Emm 5T0. Professor, preacher and counsellor, John concluded his academic career as principal of Emmanuel College (1990-1996). -
