Art ± Language: Exploring Connections Between Image & Text
The boundaries that seem to separate media in the arts seem more and more permeable, for art practitioners and for our students: poets utilize “concrete” poetic forms, visual artists incorporate text into their work, and graphic artists map out their stories using the space on the page. What are the connections between the use of image and with the use of language and text? How might artists in one medium borrow some of the techniques and concepts from another to explore new forms of expression?
To pursue these questions, Victoria College and the Creative Expression & Society program are delighted to present a panel including artists whose work traverses the boundaries between “visual art” and “writing.” Please join us for what promises to be a rich discussion!
